Jaguar Coding Coalition
The Jaguar Coding Coalition (JCC) is dedicated to teaching middle school students the fundamentals of coding through interactive lessons. The mission is to make coding accessible and enjoyable for young minds by engaging them in a hands-on learning environment. The program emphasizes practical coding exercises, allowing students to apply concepts in real-time. Through small projects, students grasp coding principles and see tangible results, from creating simple games to developing basic apps and websites.
LKMS Robotics Club
Eager to introduce robotics to younger students, we decided to pursue creating a robotics team at Lakewood Middle School. After contacting Pre-Engineering and Robotics teacher Mr. Carlson, the Kois were able to set up meetings for a new “Robotics Club” every other Wednesday. Our team introduced curious middle schoolers to the world of STEM, from Python programming to data structures and organization. We learned the value of encouraging students to explore robotics because this field will have a resounding impact on their everyday lives as adults.
